The National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky sits adjacent to the only factory in the world that has ever built a Corvette. Opened in 1994, the museum chronicles the complete history of America's sports car from the original 1953 roadster to the current mid-engine C8 generation. The museum became internationally known in 2014 when a sinkhole opened beneath the Skydome gallery, swallowing eight historic Corvettes — an event so significant that it became a permanent exhibit. The facility also offers factory tours of the adjacent GM assembly plant, where visitors can watch Corvettes being built in real time.
